Inisys Africa BIM Solutions has been involved in 3D laser scanning since 2004 when we bought our first 3D Laser scanner.
We specialise in the process plant environment where accuracy is critical when capturing as-built information for a project. As plants evolve over the years, there are numerous changes to plant assets that are not necessarily reflected in the existing document management system.
When it comes to piping and changes to these process plant, the ability to prefabricate piping off-site with mm accuracy, plan the rigging and installation can save the plant millions in downtime alone.

Using the Leica ScanStation P series which delivers the highest quality 3D data and High-Dynamic Range (HDR), we conduct a 3D scan of the interior and exterior of your building
Data is processed on a cloud-based system where it is organised and analysed by our team of experienced engineers.
Visualisation & Application
Data is converted into an optimised model for use downstream such as a BIM Model or Plant Model for application on refurbishments & upgrades, space planning, asset mapping & management etc

Piping is often one of the most difficult and important aspects of a plant environment. Without accurate and up-to-date drawings, it becomes nearly impossible to maintain and track the processes in a plant. Using 3D laser scanning technology we provide accurate and fast data capture of the existing pipes, flanges, valves, and tie points in the plant. Using our 3D Scanning technology, we can extract exact 3D as-is data within millimeter tolerances that can be used for reverse engineering and fabrication of existing objects and structures. With the ability to capture and modify physical shapes, you can design 3D-printed parts that fit perfectly on existing products of all kinds
Using specialised software within the 3D pointcloud or CAD environment, routing and clash detection of new installations are made fast and easy, minimising the risk and potential downtime during installation. With clash detection, you can route and position new equipment in an existing plant. This enables you to program and schedule the installation of equipment as well as check access for abnormal loading
3D Scanning can be used to measure deflections and deformation of structures and vessels over time or after an incident.
Scan data can be used to report any changes with millimeter precision to aid in deformation detection instantly and take corrective action
3D Scanning can be used during the construction phase of a plant for monitoring, quality control, and progress measurement.

The unit which Leica Geosystems describes the angular accuracy of the P series and C series instruments is arc seconds, a unit so small it is perhaps difficult to grasp
